Why did you become a therapist?
I’ve had a passion for psychology, neuroscience, and helping others through life experiences since I was in high school. I took a psychology 101 class in my first year of college and never turned back. I completed my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in child welfare. I went on to graduate with my master’s degree in psychology with a focus on clinical counseling from the University of West Florida. I grew my clinical expertise through a pre-master’s internship at a teen shelter striving for reunification of families, a post master’s internship at a long-term state mental health hospital for stabilization of severe mental illness, and post-licensure outpatient mental health/ addiction treatment for my community.
What should someone know about working with you?
I absolutely love getting to genuinely know my clients. I want to see the complete you and walk with you through treatment as we uncover the path to your well-being. No person I've ever worked with has been "too much" or "not enough." Despite doing this as my career, it is not for the money, it is for the hidden smiles and the brilliance of your potential. I have no issue sitting with you in your distress and when you are ready, we will put in the effort for honest change.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies around as a provider?
I regularly invest in post-graduate training and research related to anxiety, mood, and complex trauma treatment. I use modern, evidence-based treatment modalities in my sessions so you can have the highest likelihood of achieving your goals for wellness.
How do your own core values shape your approach to care?
My core values as a person include respect, integrity, and honesty. I live my day-to-day life by these values, not just in my practice. I know what it means to suffer, what it takes from you, and how it can compound. This shapes my therapeutic approach because I offer generosity and non-judgment for your lived experiences so you can be completely you with safety and security. This will allow you to connect openly in the therapeutic relationship to begin healing.
